Bohol has always been on my bucket list of places to visit. Located in the Central Visayas region, Bohol is close neighbors with Cebu and Leyte. A little further to the south, is already Mindanao.
My family and I were fortunate to have visited this beautiful place in June 2013 and saw some of its wonderfully well-preserved churches before a strong earthquake damaged much of the structures in October of the same year.
We stayed at a relatively new hotel, Amarela, which was quite homey and unlike the 5-star resorts that have recently sprouted along the coastline of Panglao, Bohol's version of a more quiet white sand beach similar to Boracay.
Some of the handicrafts being sold in Amarela's souvenir shop.
The path leading to some of the rooms.
The view of the rooms if you are coming from the beach area.
There's even a small art gallery.
Decor in the main house/building.
The books and DVDs can be borrowed by the guests.
The dining area overlooking the sea.
Our room's balcony area
The reception area
And now, a look at our room...
The next day, we woke up to a beautiful morning. Perfect for dolphin-watching!
Just look how clear the water is!
We didn't pass up the chance to see Bohol's prized possessions -- the tarsier, chocolate hills, the Loboc River and centuries-old churches.
Right beside one of the churches was a lovely cafe with an enormous backyard.
We also went to the Mahogany forest..
...one of the ancestral houses..
...the monument of the Blood compact..
and the Bohol Bee Farm.

Their ice cream was so delicious!
Truly, it's more fun in the Philippines!
